In nature, we know that certain colors indicate toxicity. We tend to look the other way when it comes to our food, thanks to food coloring and dyes. Sometimes, the color indicates that you aren’t getting a delicious treat, but a disgusting trick. So how does Pepsi Blue taste?

Pepsi Blue’s beautiful coloring immediately drew my eye. Pepsi is obviously able to freely change the color of their signature product, as we’ve seen with Crystal Pepsi. The Blue was a huge visual contrast to the dark colas next to it in the cooler.
At first I was a bit suspicious – berry flavored cola? I was too young to try Pepsi Blue as a kid when it dropped back around 2002-2004, so I didn’t have a frame of reference for this one. I had tried plenty of other flavored colas though, and had thoroughly vetted those Coca-Cola freestyle machines. I liked just about all of those, and was hoping this tasted like raspberry Coke.
No one uses soda scented candles in their house. You probably don’t normally take a big ole whiff of your drink. However, the first thing that struck me is that Pepsi Blue had a funk. Maybe I was just being extra.
It’s bad. It’s foul. It doesn’t taste like berry or pepsi. It tastes reminiscent of weird old drinks like Dr. Enuf. Both the cola taste and the expected berry taste aren’t really present, instead it’s just a strange acidic concoction that leaves an almost bitter aftertaste. It is not thirst quenching, and frankly, it’s hard to take more than just a sip of it.
I put in my fridge after taking a few sips. I tried it the next day to make sure it wasn’t just a bad initial reaction. It still tastes bad, and I can feel the gross aftertaste coating my mouth.
TL;DR don’t buy this
