Brand deals are nothing new, and McDonald’s has been killing it with celebrity promotional meals. Today we’re gonna talk about the BTS meal and compare it to another popular promotion, the Cactus Jack/Travis Scott meal. We know that the J Balvin meal was a thing, but we also know how hard it can be to get a McFlurry at some of these restaurants, so we had to bail on that one. Is the BTS Meal worth it? Let’s find out!

What is it?

It’s the familiar 10 piece McNugget combo that’s already on the menu. The BTS Meal consists of 10 Chicken McNuggets, a medium order of fries, and a medium Coke. The included sauces are sweet chili flavor and cajun flavor.

In my area, this retails for $7.19, but your local price may vary. The standard 10 piece McNugget meal is the same price, but without the purple packaging.

Don’t worry, I did the math. Here’s a breakdown of what the BTS meal would cost if ordered separately.

How is it?

Folks, there’s nothing to be surprised about here. This is standard McDonalds fare. The sweet chili sauce is of the same caliber as what you’d get from Panda Express. The Cajun sauce is as inauthentic as you would expect, and is more reminiscent of Yum Yum sauce.

How does it compare to other promos?

These promotions are generally made with ingredients that the restaurants already have on hand, though the sauces are obviously new for American McDonald’s. The Travis Scott Meal was similar: $6 for for a quarter pounder with bacon and lettuce, and barbecue sauce, medium fries, and a sprite. True, the BTS Meal does cost more, but it’s not like you’d be paying more than you usually would. Hell, you could even say that you’re getting the limited edition packaging for free!

This might be a bargain, considering some hopefuls are sincerely selling wrinkled paper bags from McDonald’s.

Was the BTS Meal worth it?

I don’t have to tell you that McDonald’s is hardly haute cuisine. Try it for the novelty, if you must. If you have a big appetite like me, then the BTS Meal is hardly a full lunch, and frankly, those little pods of sauce don’t go very far.
